Who we are

Castle Youth Theatre Company is the shared vision of Cheryl Castle Malone and Amelia Smyth Morgan— two passionate creatives brought together by a love of performance and a commitment to nurturing young talent.

Cheryl Malone is a qualified dance teacher, global examiner for the Canadian organisation Acrobatic Arts, and a Performing Arts and Dance Lecturer at SERC. She holds a BA (Hons) in Drama and has also performed as a member of the Welsh National Opera. With a career spanning over two decades, Cheryl successfully founded a thriving dance school in the south of Ireland. Since relocating to Hillsborough, she has continued to share her passion by establishing another new dance school, inspiring the next generation through movement, creativity, and performance.

Amelia Smyth is a professional actress with an impressive career spanning theatre, television, and film, with credits across London, the UK, and internationally. Her extensive experience on both stage and screen, coupled with a deep passion for storytelling, brings an exceptional depth and authenticity to every rehearsal room. Since relocating to Ireland in 2019, Amelia has continued to share her expertise by founding the Down Academy of Performing Arts, offering dynamic programmes such as West End Workshops and Broadway Babies to young performers across County Down and beyond.

Introduced through mutual connections, Cheryl and Amelia quickly realised they were kindred spirits. Castle Youth Theatre Company was born from that creative spark — and they haven’t looked back since. Grateful for the collision of their artistic paths, they’re now on an exciting journey to bring high-quality, inclusive theatre opportunities to children and young people in the local community.
